We packed up the minivan and we headed to Mississippi this past Wednesday. We met Michael, Beth & Micah Sumrall, (some old friends of Michael's) for dinner that night and enjoyed seeing/meeting them. The kids and I visited with Michael's family while he did some work on Thursday. We had a great time with Gran and Granpapa, even though Macy cried every time Granpapa tried to hold her. The kids got to meet Uncle Adam for the first time and we were glad to get a picture of him for them. Aunt Heather and Preston joined us all for dinner and it was so nice to see them again also. After a full day of visiting with family we all were wore out! This morning on our way out we stopped by and visited with Pop some and Uncle Walt & Aunt Hazel. It was so nice to spend time with everyone again and we hope it won't be too long before we are able to do it again. While we were there Michael's cousins had a baby girl and we can't wait to get to meet her. Congratulations Amanda & Eric!! Here are some pictures of our trip.

On our way home today my parents told us that when they were dropping Toby off they found a flood in our kitchen that was leaking into the basement. We were several hours from home still and it was a Friday afternoon....after a LONG drive we finally arrived home to see the damage for ourselves. The kitchen was flooded and we could see on the kick boards where the water had been. The carpet in our living room was also wet. Luckily a contractor met us at our house tonight to inspect the damage with us. The pictures tell the story. Needless to say we are looking at new kitchen flooring and replacement of our carpet. The joys of home ownership....and life lessons learned. Here is our living room as we sit here listening to a industrial dehumidifier and fans running in our den....amazingly the kids are able to sleep through this!!

Looks like you all had a great time but I am so sorry you came home to a flooded home. Arggh! Please let us know if you guys need anything at all. When will everything be fixed?
Oh no! How awful! What a nice greeting for you to have when you arrived home! :) I'm glad a contractor was able to meet you so quickly. Yes, the joys of home ownership! At least you had a fun trip away!
Hey I totally stole your idea for the 'visit counter'. That is really cool. I hope your floors are turning out.
