Connor's surgery day

Yesterday Connor had his T&A (tonsillectomy & adenoidectomy). It was a long day for all of us, but we are so glad it is over with. Connor did really well before surgery. He was greeted with smiles & presents. The child life department gave him the Cars blanket he has in the picture below. Heather, Landon's mom, works at the hospital and was there to greet him which helped him warm up to the place. He got some cool cars from Landon and a cute scrub outfit from Madelynn & Sam Borey. We thank you all for making him feel so special.
Here he is before surgery in his room, before getting his "happy" medicine.

After surgery he was a little wild for about an hour, which we expected but was harder than I thought. It was very different being on the other side this time. It gave me an appreciation for what the parents go through when I am the nurse. He finally fell back to sleep for over an hour and when he woke up he was a different child! He woke up starving and was cracking us up eating everything in site. Kathy & Ty had brought us some delicious noodles and cookies that we appreciated so much. Connor tore into the noodles by the fist full and ate most of the cookies, which were still hot! We got to come home around 6pm and he was back to his old self. I think it is going to be hard to keep him down.
Here he is after his surgery eating a Popsicle.

A special thank you to all the wonderful nurses, doctors and staff in CHOPS, Children's surgery & Children's Recovery room. You all took such good care of Connor and I appreciated it so much. There are too many to name (and I fear I would forget someone!). Thank you for all you do everyday!
